Women In Business in Switzerland:
In Switzerland, the question of entrepreneurship is mobilizing more and
more people and resources. In addition to universities, where the number of
entrepreneurship research projects and courses is increasing steadily, the
political authorities are also considering fostering entrepreneurship and
firm creation as a driver of growth in a Global Economy. In 2004, the
Government implemented new recommendations that were specifically designed to
reinforce the entrepreneurial environment and business culture through
education and training. As a result, such recommendations promote the
creation and growth of small and medium-sized businesses in Switzerland.
Notably the GEM Swiss Executive Report 2003, states that the average level of
total entrepreneurial activity (TEA) in Switzerland rates 7.4 percent.
Additionally, it also confirm that Swiss people between 18 and 64 years old
have TEA rates of 9.4 percent for men and 4.8 percent for women. In average,
63 percent of the new business ventures are created by men and only 37
percent are being established by women. Therefore, it can be argued that the
involvement of women in entrepreneurship is relatively low.
