Women In Business

Women In Business in Sweden:

In 2003, approximately 36 771 new enterprises were established in Sweden. Further, 60 percent of those enterprises were located in areas such as Stockholm, Västra Götaland and Skåne. 30 percent of all the new started enterprises had a turnover in 30 000 Euros or more during the first year of activity .
The figure (1) below displays the number of enterprises established during the period of 1995 to 2003. Notably, during the 1990s, the proportion of businesses owned by women has doubled from 15 percent to 30 percent .

Traditionally, Swedish entrepreneurs have had a low level of education attainment. But as figure 2 shows, the number of women and men with a tertiary education have increased slightly since 1996, when information on the educational background of new entrepreneurs was made available .
