Women In Business in Sweden:
In 2003, approximately 36 771 new enterprises were established in Sweden.
Further, 60 percent of those enterprises were located in areas such as
Stockholm, Västra Götaland and Skåne. 30 percent of all the new started
enterprises had a turnover in 30 000 Euros or more during the first year of
activity .
The figure (1) below displays the number of enterprises established during
the period of 1995 to 2003. Notably, during the 1990s, the proportion of
businesses owned by women has doubled from 15 percent to 30 percent .

Traditionally, Swedish entrepreneurs have had a low level of education
attainment. But as figure 2 shows, the number of women and men with a
tertiary education have increased slightly since 1996, when information on
the educational background of new entrepreneurs was made available .
