What is a Search Conference?
Search Conference is an activity that enables large groups of people to discuss
important issues in a short period of time. It enables participants of large
group to diagnose the organizational issues, to collect and analyze data, to
collaborate and engages in problem solving.
During the workshop we will demonstrate the potential of this tool for getting
feedback from participants of the conference.
The goals of the Search Conference are:
- To gather information from all the participants in a relatively short period
of time.
- To prioritise information and develop common ground.
- To identify conference issues that have to be celebrated or need to
be dealt with effectively.
- To insure the full participation of all the participants in the diagnostic
activity.
- This activity enables all the participants to discuss openly the emerging
data as it is collected and organizes a large body of information in an effective
and efficient manner. It stimulates thinking, develops listening skills, fosters
collaboration, and identifies common ground.
The Search Conference can help a lot to gather knowledge and in some other
important fields be a useful interactive activity for gathering, analysing,
and sharing facts and opinions.
The purpose of a conference can be two-fold:
- To help a large, diverse group of stakeholders discover the values,
purposes and projects they held in common;
- To enable these groups to create a desired future together and start
working toward it immediately.
The desired outcomes for the specific conference can be:
- A shared vision and understanding of the value and rightful place
of the specific organization/project and its role in the wider community.
- A commitment to foster relationships that will contribute, implement
and sustain this shared vision.
