Qualified women engineers, members of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TCG),
established EDEM in 1995. EDEM operates in parallel and complementary to the
TCG and the professional Associations of Greek Engineers, complementing and
underpinning their actions to solve specific professional problems women engineers
face.
EDEM aims to encourage community awareness on employment opportunities for
women and mainly of young women in the traditionally male dominated profession
of engineering and to develop an information unit to support women engineers
concerning employment opportunities in the labour market, according to specialised
qualifications, training and their professional experience.
EDEM is also the official WiTEC representative in Greece since 1997, giving
this way the opportunity to its members
to be members of the network as well. The active presence of EDEM in the network
and also its participation in several European projects gives the Association
access to information and international practices on the promotion of equal
opportunities policies in employment, especially in the fields of science and
technology.
