'At national level, entrepreneurial attitudes appear to be quite positive.
About two in three Dutch adults consider starting a business to be a good
career option and believe that succesful entrepreneurs have a high social
status.' (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor The Netherlands, 2003)
Plenty of dutch people see theirselves able to set up an enterprise, but in
reality about 10-11% of the total dutch working population is entrepreneur.
Most people that start an enterprise had a secondairy training and education

About 32% of all entrepreneurs is female and from 2002 about 27-29% of all
new business starters is female (EIM, 2003)
The service sector is important in the Netherlands, next to retail trade.
Since a long time, in 2004 the number of starting enterprises increased in
all sectors.
