Facts and Figures in Greece:
INTENTION OF ESTABLISHING AN ENTERPRISE IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS

In Greece the goal of many engineers is to establish their own enterprise. In
the table below we find that typographers and mechanical engineers are the
ones who most frequently establish their own business. Also, research shows
that young engineers are the ones who often succeed to reach such goals.
ENGINEER'S POSITION IN REFERENCE TO THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF HIS/HER OWN ENTERPRISE
In Greece, it is known that the majority of the entrepreneurs with an
engineer background establish their own enterprises. It can be noted that
only 10,2 percent of entrepreneurs in the age group between 25 to 34 years
old succeeded a member of their family. The reasons for this is the emphasise
on independence, action and other benefits such as profits. Here,
entrepreneurs were likely to be faced with obstacles such as bureaucracy,
financial uncertainty, taxes and the existing mechanisms in the delivery of
Public Manufactures that whilst establishing their enterprises. Hence, many
of the entrepreneurs claim that they do not get enough support from their
environment.
